What is TweetRush?
TweetRush is an implementation of Rush Hour, our analytics engine currently under active development. We decided that a good way to test the Rush Hour engine is to apply it to a well known high volume service, like Twitter. With TweetRush, we use Rush Hour to analyze the tweet or message sending action of public messages sent via Twitter. These come from various sources, including the Twitter website and the many Twitter API applictions.
I've tweeted but can't find any stats for myself?
TweetRush only tracks public tweets, we do not see the actions of users with protected updates.
Why are some tweets not registering in my stats?
A small amount of updates get lost in transit from Twitter. Note that you may still be able to see you Tweet on multiple sources, but if they did not send it to our feed provider we did not get it. We also utilize heavy DB caching in order to minimize the load on our DB servers. Queries may be cached for five minutes up to one day, depending on the type of query. Most personal stats are cached for 15 min. This means if you are unlucky, you may have to wait 30 min for your stats to be updated.
How often do you update your stats?
We update our stats every six minutes, but we are 15 minutes behind Twitter in time. This ensures that we get as much data as possible in order to minimize data loss. We also utilize query caching to minimize load on our DB servers. This means you may have to wait up to 30 min for some stats to be updated. We shall be working to improve this in future version.
Why are the times of my tweets are wrong?
Twitter has users from many different countries and timezones, so Coordinated Universal Time or (UTC/ZULU), is used by default. We will be aping support for you to select your timezone in future version.
Are you storing my tweets?
No, never. Rush Hour just looks at actions, in this case its the action of sending a tweet. When we detect this action we log the fact that the action occurred but not the contents of that action. If privacy is a concern, please see our privacy policy.
Are you another Twitter bot?
No, in fact we have no direct contact with either the Twitter site or service API. We get a feed from a third party who has a relationship with Twitter.
I don't want people to be able to view my stats, can you stop please?
We are working on a process for this and will have it ready soon. While we will still track all public Twitter actions, we will enable you to make your individual stats anonymous.
Why are there no country/location based stats?
We do not currently receive this information. While we could obtain it by other means, we prefer not to. We will work with our feed provider to see if we can enable this data.
What else can you do with Twitter data?
As we are currently restricted by the data our feed provider is allowed to publish, this implementation of the Rush Engine is quite limited. However if can access more data we could also analyze that. This may be follower, location or other information that Twitter may decide to publish in the future.
